Florida homeowners are increasingly choosing metal roofs such as this recent Modtek Roofing project in Vero Beach.

Metal roofs can withstand cruel climates and have the highest wind resistance rating of any other roofing system.  They also do not absorb water and won’t split and strip under the sun’s destructive beams.  This makes them a popular material for Florida homeowners.

Our customer for this project clearly did their homework, as they were well-educated on the benefits of a metal roof.  They approached our company with a clear objective;  re-install a roof utilizing the best materials in preparation for the cruel Florida hurricanes.

Here is the Scope of work for this project

  • Remove existing roof to the plywood deck
  • Install peal-n-stick underlayment to code
  • Install stack flashing on all plumbing vents
  • Install new galvalume eave drip, valley and metals
  • Install a mill finish 26G, 5V metal roof system
  • Furnish 5 year weather-tightness warranty

In past years, many mortgage holders were not knowledgable about the benefits of the metal roofing material.  They tended to lean towards the aesthetics of a traditional shingle or other customary roofing materials. Today, metal roofs come in all shapes. sizes, and colors. From traditional standing seams, to interlocking metal shingles that resemble conventional wood shake, tile or asphalt shingles. Property holders no longer have to forfeit style and taste to take advantage of a metal roofing system.

Additionally, metal roofs are a great investment.

Previously, property owners scoffed at the expense of metal roofs. which was generally up to two times costlier than shingle roofing systems.  Now the price difference is only slightly higher, an investment that can payoff over time.

Metal roofs typically last much longer than conventional roofing systems.  For example, most steel and aluminum metal material frameworks accompany a 25-to 50-year warranty. A few other materials, for example, copper, can last as long as 100 years. As a result of their sturdiness, metal roofing systems require less repairs over time, thus saving homeowners money.
